Silks
Known for its luster and strength, silk is an amazing fabric that is still produced much as it was in the ancient world. Silk comes in sheer and lightweight fabrics as well as thick and textured ones. Our collection ranges from colorful organzas to an ivory double crepe silk Moroccan, with so much in between!
Like butta’
From the left, a wool/silk suiting, a Versace silk with some texture and a few slubs, an unbrushed silk noil, sometimes referred to as “raw silk”.
Silk Wools
Yarn-dyed wool/silk midweight suiting in a herringbone weave. Beautiful drape.
Silk Indian Hand Loomed
A vintage hand loomed silk from India that is both embroidered and beaded. Could be used very effectively for bridal.
Silk Taffeta
A lustrous, flat-weave fabric with a crisp texture that makes a wonderful rustling sound when it moves.
Silk Dupioni
Always lustrous! Dupioni is made using a smooth, fine thread in the warp and a thicker, slubbed one in the weft. The two threads, different colors, produce an iridescent effect.
Silk Shantungs
Similar to Dupioni but with a tighter, somewhat smoother, weave. Used primarily for formal wear.
Silk Organzas
A thin, plain weave sheer fabric known for its crisp and stiff hand. It is used for clothing, both formal and everyday, interlinings and decor.
Silk Chiffon
An elegant, sheer fabric with incredible softness, it has amazing drape and a slightly crepey appearance. Even heavy chiffons are sheer. It is like sewing air!
Silk Matkas
Often described as a silk linen, matka is softer than its counterpart.
Sandwashed Silk
Usually charmeuse, the fabric is treated to give it an even softer hand and a suede-like appearance. Use for formal or casual.
Silk Crepe
Has a distinctive pebbly appearance and comes in different weights. For blouses, dresses and suits.
